The NOAA-EPA National Air Quality Forecast Capability system consists of the Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) model driven by the North American Mesoscale (NAM) meteorological model. The operational/experimental CMAQ system running in NCEP uses CB04/CB05 chemical mechanism, latest point sources emissions, EPA NEI-2005 area and mobile sources and BEIS 3 biogenic emission. Its current domains cover CONUS, Hawaii and Alaska, respectively, in 12km horizontal resolution and 22 vertical layers up to 100hPa. This system is running 4 cycles per day, and the 06Z and 12Z cycles provide 48-hour forecast.

The AQ model forecasted ozone and PM2.5 can be found in http://www.emc.ncep.noaa.gov/mmb/aq. Its CONUS outputs were also displayed in NDFD’s 5km domain in 1-hr/8-hr averages and daily 1-hr/8-hr maximums.
